8 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Me

So, I've been on the road for most of the last month and haven't had a chance to do this for Thordora. So, without further ado, 8 things you probably didn't know about me.

1. I wear jeans when it's 97F and the heat index is 100+. My school system had a very strict dress code, and I could never find shorts long enough to satisfy it. It also had fans from the 1930s and didn't get AC until sometime in the early 1990s.
2. I don't carry a purse. I may have a backpack or daybag from time to time, but usually I have just a wallet with a chain.
3. I didn't walk down the aisle in a big poofy white dress for my wedding and I'm happy with that.
4. My husband probably needs only one hand to count the number of times he's seen me in a dress or makeup.
5. While my side of the bathroom isn't cluttered with 20 gazillion shades of makeup, it is cluttered with just as many hair products promising to tame my curly hair.
6. I am the type of person who will pull over and help if I see there's an accident and the EMS hasn't arrived yet.
7. As a result of #6, I have helped save a life.
8. Before that, I used to joke that blood didn't bother me so long as it wasn't my own. After that, I've had to amend that to bleeding that can't be easily stopped with a bandaid and a couple of minutes of pressure bothers me.

Six Things about Jack because I ran out of people to tag…

1. Jack is named after Jack O'Neill from SG1.

2. Although Jack is a dog, he was born in Catlett, Va.

3. Jack wants to be a baby too. How come no one ever buys him pacifiers, a swing, or his very own hypercolor sippy cups?

4. Jack will eat damn near anything, especially if Paul eats it. Jack likes apples, bananas, kumquats, green beans, mango, carrots, pineapple, oranges, and anything else the baby drops, even zwieback. When Jack visits Louisiana, he steals the cat's food.

5. Jack has been on two road trips, one to Louisiana and back, and one to Tennessee for Geoquest. When we go to the drive thru window, everyone says "Ooh, Men in Black!" when they see him.

6. Jack owns two books. Jack got his first book at the baby shower as a gift from my Grandma Colleen. She gave him a copy of The Other Dog, by Madeline L'Engle. When we went on our walks around the neighborhood, he loved letting little children play with him and wouldn't have minded if they followed us home. On Christmas Day 2004, he got his wish. For Christmas 2005, Jack got a copy of The Puppy Who Wanted a Boy for Christmas.

Jack would tag someone, but his only friends are toddlers who won't admit to being on MySpace.
