If You Give a Baby a Teething Biscuit…
Paul is working on cutting his molars, and he gets rather fussy if there's nothing to gnaw on. Clayton and I were getting ready to go out to see Gwen Stefani and Black Eyed Peas in concert, so we were trying to keep Paul occupied. I handed him a teething biscuit and he quickly got it wet and sticky before getting it all over his face. A quick bath later, and he was ready to hang out with his babysitter, Caroline.
Tamara joined us for dinner and the concert. We went by Champs and the service was not even approaching adequate. I ended up with no food because they served me bad fish and there wasn't time to do anything about it. The line to park at GMU was quite long, but we finally made it to a parking spot and in the door.
Unfortunately, we missed 5 of the 6 Black Eyed Peas songs. Our tickets just said "8pm" and didn't specify whether it was doors open at or concert begins at. Unfortunately, we guessed wrong and went with "doors open at 8", since that was pretty much the way every other concert we've been to was operated.
There were several high school and college kids texting away during the concert. The seats were not exactly inexpensive, so we were a little surprised when the two guys in front of us didn't even pay attention to the concert. One fell asleep and the other barely took his eyes off the phone.
Overall, the show was pretty good. Twenty years ago, I had no idea I'd ever see Stacy Ferguson of Kids Incorporated in concert. (That's Fergie of Black Eyed Peas, now that she's all grown up.) Gwen's show was pretty good too. She went through quite a few costume changes and had 3 sets of dancers. One set was the Harajuku Girls (Love, Angel, Music, and Baby) that you see paraded around with her when she hits the talk show circuit. She also had a set of male dancers, and one of them hailed from Fairfax. She also had another set of dancers for when the first two sets were busy doing costume changes. I was surprised at how close to her album she sounds when she's live.
