“Uh oh! ‘Puter broken!”

I haven't really been able to write much recently, or keep with my friends' feeds lately. You can blame that on Paul. He's definitely got a pretty big geeky streak and loves anything to do with my computer. He has a Vtech Nitro, but apparently ripping 80% of the keys off my laptop and then saying "Uh oh! Puter broken" over and over as I try to put it back together is much more fun than playing with his computer.

Paul and I spent a few weeks in Louisiana visiting family. Paul got to stay with his MawMaw so Clayton and I could enjoy 3 whole days by ourselves. We drove over to Dallas to visit Chris and Hope. We hit Half Price Books and Fry's while we were there, as well as Siciliano's. I didn't realize how bad the drought was there, until we drove over the Lake Lavon. It's a man made lake, and with all the water gone, you could see the old roads on the bottom of the lake.

After a day in Dallas, Clayton and I continued on to Austin. We wandered around the Capitol area, and went to the Salt Lick for supper. I'm not normally not a barbeque person, but I loved it. The drive back wasn't bad, until we hit Houston about 3pm. It reminded me of just how much I HATE Houston. A couple of days after that, Clayton flew home, and I drove up to North Louisiana to pick up Jack and visit my parents.

I've been home for a couple of weeks, but Paul is in full on Wrathful Ones mode, so I try to take him out whenever possible. Otherwise, he makes messes faster than I can clean them up. He's getting a little better, but you really almost need to make him walk a mile or so before setting him loose inside. He's usually pretty content to play quietly with blocks after one of those walks.

Where were you?

Catching Up

Life has been... busy.. since I got back from Dallas. Work, work, work, get 37 boxes up to the third floor, unpack boxes, organize it and all that other fun stuff that goes along with moving. I'm down to about 5 or 6 boxes left to unpack, but it's mostly nonessential stuff. It'll probably sit in my closet until I seriously look into getting a puppy.

We also went to the Fairfax fair last weekend, which was fun, but more expensive than I remember. We also went to a company picnic, which was ok too.

I'm also going to a Skinny Puppy concert next week. It should be interesting, to say the least. The Violent Femmes are supposed to be in town later this summer, so I'm thinking about going to that.

Leaving Dallas

Well, after having spent the better part of last week packing up, I finally finished. With a little help from Sonja and Hope, I got everything mailed. So far, I have about 2/3rds of it here... at the bottom of three flights of stairs.

After we mailed the last packages, I took Hope and Sonja out to Siciliano's for lunch. I had the tortellini combination plate and I think I might have a new favorite thing to order there. Siciliano's makes some of the best alfredo sauce. My dish was cheese and meat tortellini covered in alfredo sauce, with meat sauce in the center. We also managed to snag some rolls for Clayton.

After we got back, I spent the remainder of my time in Dallas feeling like I'd forgotten pack something. Woke up the next morning, and hopped on DART. People were having some problems understanding that standing right under the doors means they're not going to close until you move. The train was packed, and no one from North Dallas really gets off it until you hit City Place. People being dumb kept me from catching TRE out to the DFW on time. I missed it by 5 minutes or so :(.

This caused me to miss my flight. Fortunately, I was able to catch the next flight out. Unfortunately, my new connecting flight was filled with the kids' tour group from hell.

There were 60ish 11-12 year olds, mostly girls. This meant that when we took off, landed, hit a little turbulence, or they saw something on the ground, they screamed. And I was stuck listening to comments such as *squeal!!* "That's the ocean!!!!!" "OMG, the loch ness monster lives there!! Do you see it?!?!" as we flew over the Potomac.

And we almost had to fly into Baltimore or where ever it is they fly you to when someone can't follow directions. About 15 minutes out from National, some girl gets up to go to the bathroom. I mean, the flight attendants have only been announcing for the last hour and a half how much time we have before no one is allowed to get up for whatever reason.

I did feel much better after Clayton picked me up and we hit RT's for supper. But at least I am back home for awhile now :) Current Mood: [mood icon] sleepy

Hey Hope

Saw that they were canceling Angel :/. Did it really snow back home? I think we still have snow from a couple of weeks ago ;). Anyway, happy valentine's day *hug* :). Will post about mine later tonight.
