I had no idea kids ended up with so much stuff. Between Paul being the only grand child, and great grand child on my side of the family, and the third on the other side, a lot of toys have found their way to our house. I appreciate that his family enjoys giving him gifts, but there's just not really a spot to store the large toys that are out grown relatively quickly. I was dubious of the Intellitainer, but Paul has been playing with it for 11 months now.
That was one of the reasons I didn't want a baby bath tub. They're bulky, and once they're too small, what are you supposed to do with them? Paul's bathroom has a finite amount of space, as does the rest of this house. I think that's why the Boon Potty Bench appealed to me when I stumbled across it on mod*mom. Hopefully Paul won't need a potty chair until he's in elementary school, but he probably will need a stool to wash his hands or brush his teeth. If it's at a decent price, this would make a lot of sense for us.
One of the reasons I've hesitated to upgrade my main two blogs to WP 2.01 is that I discovered it breaks the current version of Shortstat. But Markus Kämmerer fixed a version that works with WP 2.01. Read more »
Cocomment is open! I've been itching to try this out so I don't lose track of conversations on collaborative blogs. Unfortunately, I was just a bit too late to snag "Caitlin" :(.
Modern plastic packaging really annoys me. I have to dig around for the scissors, and when they don't work, I have to go dig up a box cutter. There are few things that are harder to deal with than a small child unwrapping presents that were not let loose from their many wires and hard plastic cases. We have a lot of great gift givers in our family, and it was very hard for Paul to understand that he had to let us have the present for a few minutes so he could play with it.
I ran across an article in the NY Times about a new tool that should help alleviate this problem. It's only $5 and you get free shipping if you order from My OpenX. (Don't order from Smarthomes on Amazon, because they will charge $7.90 for a $5 purchase.)
If it works out well, I will probably purchase one for each set of grandparents, and my sister-in-law. The only draw back seems to be it's not so hot for lefties, but then again, most things aren't.
One of the more annoying things about participating in a discussion in the comments of a blog is keeping up with the comments. One of the many things Wordpress gets right is an rss feed for the comments of each post. I have a private folder on Bloglines where I keep the feeds for comments on WP blogs. Read more »
